What I Know For Sure...

So while I was browsing the internet today and watching the beloved "Oprah" (which I don't get to do very much), I came across this question on her website.

What do you KNOW for sure?

Hmmm....talk about food for thought. That is quite a question and not one that can be answered in full in just a very few minutes.

But here are a couple of things that show up on MY list.

1. YOU (and only you) are responsible for your own happiness. You can't rely on anyone else to make you happy. Doing that only leads to the opposite - unhappiness. I firmly believe you need to make that a daily decision. "I will be happy today." And yes, I have posted about this before.

2. Stop trying to be like somebody else! If you give up being who you are in order to become like someone else, you'll just end up being something God doesn't need one more of. He made you in a precise way for a precise purpose, and only you will do. So just be you.

3. Don't know how to pray? Questioning your life? If you feel a deep hunger, but don’t know what you want. Ask God to order for you. That way you will get whatever is best on the menu.

4. Never miss a good chance to shut up. (really - sometimes I just have to shut my mouth and not say anything) I use to tell my kids, "if you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all". THAT particular quote is straight from Bambi or should I say Thumper to be exact. I try to listen to my own advice, most of the time.

Oh, I can add to this list if I stop and think about it. And I am absolutely certain I have left off some very important things that I do know, but those are thoughts to be added at another time.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Count your blessings!

Great is Thy Faithfulness

One of my all time favorite songs -
it's been running through my mind all week long.
Hope you enjoy it.

Great is Thy faithfulness,
O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not,
Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been,
Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness,
Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter
springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness,
mercy and love.

Pardon for sin
and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence
to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today
and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine,
with ten thousand beside!

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

He has provided everything I need, given me strength and hope. He never changes. Look around at our wonderful world, have you noticed how beautiful it is? Look at the blessings in our lives. Wow! And even though I fail, every morning I can start over. Thanks!
